Emergence is uses only the first five notes of the Bb Concert scale, and the meter alternates between 4/4 and 6/8 throughout. After a few rehearsals, young students will begin to feel the pattern. The piece is intended to evoke imagery of growth, such as the budding flowers or the emerging musicianship demonstrated in their spring performances.
